
STUDENT AFFAIRS COVID-19 REMOTE SERVICES UPDATES
Howdy, Ags!
While we will continue to provide essential in-person services related to housing and health, the majority of our other services are now being exclusively provided remotely by our outstanding and dedicated staff. Although most of our physical locations are closed to the public, our staff is available via phone, email and Zoom (when applicable) to support students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders. We are committed to providing remote services that support student wellbeing, enrich the student experience through online engagement, and contribute to student success. Office of the Vice President
- Our team is via phone, email, and Zoom for consultation and support. For general inquiries, please call 979-845-4728 or email vpsa@tamu.edu.
- Students who are faced with financial difficulties as a result of the COVID-19 health crisis can apply for emergency financial assistance. Please detail the reason for your request. Funds are limited, every request may not be funded or fully-funded.
- The University has created a relief fund for our students administered by the university. If you've been looking for an opportunity to show your support, we would be delighted if you would donate to our student relief fund
Student Health Services
- Student Health Services (SHS) is available for students to utilize during this time. The Medical Clinic is divided into a respiratory clinic and a general clinic. To make an appointment, visit the SHS Appointment page. If students are experiencing any high-risk symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste/smell, diarrhea), they may web book a telemedicine appointment with a clinician or call SHS at (979) 458-8310 to schedule a telenurse screening appointment. - COVID-19 PCR (current infection) and antibody testing (past infection) are available for students by self-referral. Results will typically be available within 48-72 hours after testing. Most insurance companies are covering the cost of testing. For uninsured students, CARES Act Funding is available. If you have had a close exposure to someone with COVID-19 or you have symptoms, please make a telenurse appointment. For those having high risk symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath), the nurse will be able to give instructions for seeing a provider and receiving testing. For those with mild or low risk symptoms or who have had exposure, you may be sent to the self-collection testing area. Contact the Lab at (979) 458-8333 for any questions. To expedite the testing process, please fill out the following form in advance: COVID Antibody Testing Form. Testing is only available on Monday-Friday, 8:15am-4pm. Please present at the main entrance to gain access to the lab for this testing.
Residence Life
- General Information
- On campus housing remains open with live-in staff on duty and working wi-fi.
- Community Learning Centers are open and promoting social distancing guidelines.
- Academic Peer Mentors are available online.
- All programming is suspended but staff are working to keep community involvement without compromising social distancing.
- All Game Rooms and the Fitness Center at the Gardens are closed.
- Residence Life 24 Hour Desks in the Commons and Hullabaloo Hall, as well as the information desks at White Creek Community Center and Gardens Community Center, will be staffed on a limited schedule. There will be a phone number posted for assistance after hours.
- The Housing Assignments Office, North and South Area Offices, Corps Area Housing Office and Gardens Apartments Office will be closed to walk-ins.
- Dining is open and offering take out only.
Offices of the Dean of Student Life
- Offices under the Dean of Student Life (Office of the Dean, Graduate & Professional Student Government, Health Promotion, LGBTQ+ Pride Center, New Student & Family Programs, Off-Campus Student Services, Student Assistance Services, Student Conduct Office, Student Legal Services, Student Media, and the Women’s Resource Center) are providing remote services. Individuals are encouraged to visit our website for information about how to engage available services.
- Student Assistance Services (SAS) can be a beginning point of contact for information or questions about a variety of topics including: referrals and resource connections; concerning behavior follow-up; student welfare checks; student absence notifications; Silver Taps and student death; transition issues; and more. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to contact SAS by email at studentlife@tamu.edu. If you are ever concerned about a student exhibiting concerning behavior, please use the Tell Somebody reporting process.

Multicultural Services

- The Department of Multicultural Services (DMS) is now hosting weekly office hours throughout New Student Conferences (June 2 - August 11). DMS office hours are held every Tuesday at 2 p.m. and every Thursday at 4 p.m., and inform incoming freshmen about each of the department's first-year programs and diversity education programs. - The Let's Talk Program is now available through Counseling & Psychological Services. Let's Talk provides a virtual space for students of color to process their experiences as they navigate identity, academics, and the challenges and uncertainties related to COVID-19. Corps of Cadets
- The Corps has created a new webpage to capture the latest updates (tx.ag/CorpsNews).

- Consistent with TAMU guidance on social distancing, Corps academic advising will be conducted virtually. Schedule an appointment with Corps Academics at: tx.ag/appointments
- The Sam Houston Sanders Corps of Cadets Center is closed. Corps recruiting programs have been cancelled, but recruiting efforts will be conducted virtually. Check the Corps of Cadets social media accounts and tx.ag/CorpsNews for information on upcoming virtual recruiting events.
Student Activities
- Student Activities has created a special Student Organization Resources (COVID-19) webpage to support our student organization community. Please be sure to visit this page to find targeted updates, recommendations, and resources for student organizations and leaders navigating the changing landscape of organizational operations in the current context, as well as an archive of all Student Activities COVID Update emails.
- Student Activities will be offering virtual services only until further notice. Virtual services include organization consultations via phone, email, or zoom; electronic routing and signing of SOFC documents; online organizational training; and more. Please check the Student Organization Resources (COVID-19) website for more information or email soda@stuact.tamu.edu with any questions.
- Student organization travel (any activities beyond 25 miles from campus) is prohibited indefinitely, as per the Texas A&M suspension of all University Travel.
- The Student Organization Finance Center (SOFC) is operating virtually to manage student organizations’ financial needs. For any questions or concerns, please email sofc@stuact.tamu.edu and the appropriate team member will contact you. Virtual Office Hours will be available begin the week of March 30 - April 3. Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS)
- CAPS remains committed to supporting students' mental health and wellbeing. We have modified our services in conjunction with Texas A&M’s guidance on physical distancing. Learn more on our website.
- The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been stressful for many people and communities. Fear and anxiety about a disease can be overwhelming and cause a host of emotional responses. Please visit a special page on our website for mental health and coping during COVID-19.
- Just like your physical health, your mental health matters. Utilize the resources on this webpage to learn more about common concerns college students face.
- A simple conversation can save a life. Find suicide awareness and prevention resources, including FREE Kognito gatekeeper intervention training.
- HelpLine remains operational from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. weekdays and 24 hours on weekends. We encourage students to call and talk about their feelings related to the impact of COVID-19, online classes, or anything that is on their mind. HelpLine is equipped to provide peer support, information, crisis intervention, and referrals to students, as well as those concerned about students. Call (979) 845-2700 to talk.

Disability Resources
- Our team is committed to providing accessibility consultation and support via phone, email, and Zoom for students, faculty, and staff making the transition to online coursework and services during the COVID-19 outbreak. Read our frequently asked questions for summer and fall.
- Since summer exams are all being administered online our physical Testing Center is currently closed. Testing Center staff continue to assist faculty and students with online proctoring for students with disability accommodations by request.
Memorial Student Center
- All MSC events and programs are canceled for the remainder of the semester, however, we are working on a variety of campus wide programs to be delivered online. Please follow our social media sites or check our website for future offerings.

Recreational Sports
- The Rec Center is now open for limited activities! For hours of operations, what is available, and information on activities, please visit our coronavirus update webpage for links to participate at home!
- We are excited to resume in person Group RecXercise classes for Summer Session II. We will also continue to provide Live virtual Group Fitness Classes through Zoom and pre-recorded classes on YouTube. Check out the playlist of pre-recorded Group Fitness Classes here.
- Outdoor Adventure Academy is now offering skill-building videos and activities perfect for enjoying the great outdoors in the summertime. Check out Rec Sports’ IGTV, YouTube, Twitter, or Facebook accounts each Friday for new episodes!
- Rec Sports Personal Training program is accepting clients again! From the novice to the experienced exerciser or athlete, our nationally certified trainers have the knowledge and skill to help you achieve your personal fitness goals. - Rec Sports and Health Promotion are partnering to provide free Aggie Wellness Coaching to students! These sessions are currently held via Zoom, so we can meet you wherever you are. University Center & Special Events

- Rudder Theatre Complex, Rudder Tower and All Faiths Chapel are closed indefinitely.
Veteran Resource & Support Center
- The VRSC is closed, however, services can be obtained and questions answered by emailing the staff or aggievets@tamu.edu.
- Military Admissions is available to assist students via phone or email.
- VALOR is in the process of identifying Zoom meetings to provide continued support through the semester. Students may still reach out to their VALOR leaders via email and texting service.
- The coordinator of our VA Veteran Success on Campus program is available to assist remotely and can be reached by phone or email.

University Art Galleries
- Both the Stark and Forsyth Galleries will be reopening July 1 with the limited hours of Tues.–Fri., 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free, as always, and physical distancing and mask wearing will be encouraged. Music Activities
- For the remainder of the spring semester, all concerts of the university bands, choirs, and orchestras are canceled, as well as rehearsals, tours, performances, and banquets.
- Auditions for the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band will take place on-line. Please follow the directions found on our website. Concert Bands, Jazz Bands and Orchestra audition process updates are on the website.
- Choral Activities auditions for fall of 2020. Please follow the directions found on our website.
- The Music Activities Center is closed.
